The release calendars for two much-awaited films have undergone a reshuffle. Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, starring Yash, has been pushed from its earlier June 4, 2026 date to a later, yet-to-be-announced window. The makers are expected to announce a fresh release plan soon.
On the other hand, Varun Dhawan’s Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai has also seen a shift in its schedule. Initially slated to hit theatres on May 22, 2026, the romantic comedy will now arrive in cinemas on June 5, 2026, giving it a slightly delayed but potentially more strategic release window.

Varun Dhawan’s romantic drama Hai Jawani Toh Ishq Hona Hai has now been shifted back to its original theatrical release date of June 5, 2026. The film had earlier been preponed to May 22, 2026, but following the reshuffling of release plans for Toxic: A Fairytale for Grown-Ups, the makers have decided to revert to the initial date.
Announcing the update on social media, Varun shared fresh posters and wrote, “JUNE 5 TH 2026 in theatres Thankful to @thenameisyash and @maddockfilms for helping us reset the calendar as our film hai jawani toh ishq hona hai will now release on its original date. The first film to release post ipl.”

The move is being seen as a strategic decision to optimise box office potential, especially with a clear window right after the IPL season.
Users are unfazed by the release date shift as one of them said, “This movie hasn’t had one good asset yet. Teaser, songs and posters all have failed to generate buzz. No matter how many dates you change, agar content hi aap ka bekaar hai toh nothing can save your film.”

Another user commented, “I’m still skeptical if it will pull audiences, but I genuinely hope it works for the love of David Dhawan. His 90s comedy style was iconic, but the same formula doesn’t always click today. Still, I hope I’m wrong and we finally get a fresh, genuinely funny film. We badly need some light-hearted comedy in the middle of all these toxic movies nowadays.”
