Mumbai Indians (MI) batter Rohit Sharma is in contention to play in the IPL 2026 match against the Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH). The game is scheduled to take place at the iconic Wankhede Stadium on April 29. Rohit has been out of action since injuring his hamstring during the MI vs RCB match on April 12. In his absence, the five-time champions have struggled, with the team management testing different combinations involving Quinton de Kock, Ryan Rickelton and Danish Malewar, but with hardly any success.
The decision on Rohit Sharma’s availability will be taken on the day of the match.
“He is progressing well, but a call on his participation will be taken before the toss against SRH,” a MI spokesperson said.
Rohit has scored 137 runs at an average of 45.66 and a strike rate of 165.06, and is the fourth leading run-getter for his team despite not playing the last three games.
Mumbai are ninth in the points table and have just two matches so far. Their most recent 103-run loss came against the Chennai Super Kings (CSK).
Rohit Sharma’s record against SRH
Rohit hasn’t done well against the Sunrisers in the tournament. In 25 matches, he has amassed 535 runs at an average of 24.32 and a strike rate of 136.13. He has hit three fifties against the Men in Orange. Out of all the franchises he has competed against in the IPL, the right-handed batter has recorded the third-lowest average against the Hyderabad-based franchise.
