A man allegedly killed his wife in Kalaburagi following a family dispute and later jumped into a well with their two-year-old child. Locals rescued the child, but the man died. Police have registered a case and launched an investigation.
A shocking incident stemming from a prolonged family dispute has claimed two lives in Madara K village of Afzalpur taluk in Kalaburagi district. A man allegedly killed his wife inside their home before taking his own life, in a tragic sequence of events that has left the local community in distress.
Wife Killed, Husband Jumps Into Well With Child
The accused, identified as Lakshmikanth, is reported to have murdered his 23-year-old wife, Anjali, at their residence. Following the act, he took their two-year-old child and jumped into a well located near the house. Alert locals who witnessed the incident immediately rushed to the spot and managed to rescue the child. However, Lakshmikanth had already drowned by the time help arrived.
History Of Marital Conflict
According to sources, the couple had been facing frequent disputes for a considerable period. The situation had escalated to such an extent that Anjali had left her husband’s home nearly one and a half years ago and returned to her parental home. She was originally from Chikkehalli village in Akkalkot taluk of Maharashtra and had been staying there since.
Disagreement Over Relocation
One of the key reasons behind the conflict was Anjali’s desire to relocate to Pune in Maharashtra in search of employment, while her husband was unwilling to move. This difference reportedly remained unresolved and continued to strain their relationship.
Return After Compromise Meeting
Just four days prior to the incident, elders and relatives had convened a meeting in an attempt to resolve the dispute and reconcile the couple. Following the discussions, Anjali returned to her husband’s home, hoping to rebuild their relationship.
Investigation Underway
In a tragic turn of events, the reconciliation effort ended in violence. After allegedly killing his wife, Lakshmikanth jumped into the well with their child. While the child was rescued in time, Lakshmikanth could not be saved. A case has been registered at Revur Police Station, and further investigation is underway to determine the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.
