The former India and RCB captain Virat Kohli was back in his hometown Delhi to face the Axar Patel-led Delhi Capitals while turning up for the for the 39th match of the IPL 2026. A day later on Monday, the batter inaugurated a cricket academy and even got to meet young cricketers.
At a special function in the Delhi Public School RK Puram, the former India captain was honoured and shared his experience with the students. A part of the ceremony however grabbed the attention of netizens when an ardent student tried to touch Kohli's feet and went viral all over the social media platforms.
Student Touches Kohli's feet; Reaction goes viral
When he was presented the honours at the ceremony, the young boy bowed and touched Kohli's feet. The latter was evidently surprised and at once stopped the student, responding with folded hands and the 'namaste' gesture.
The clip of this simple but significant incident was shared on all social media platforms, and viewers lauded the Indian batter for his humble gesture. The video has attracted great attention and has now contributed to the ongoing hype of his presence in Delhi.
Meanwhile, Virat Kohli was also seen sharing a heartfelt moment with his childhood coach Rajkumar Sharma as he inaugurated the academy, reminding him of his early cricketing days.

Kohli Shares Message for Students, IPL 2026 Form
At the occasion, Kohli's message to the students was very clear and straight. He told them to remain honest and focused in their aims.
"Be honest with your dreams, about what you want to do and follow that dream with absolute commitment. Only you will know whether you are being 100% honest or not."
The students heard him, especially young cricketers hoping for a career in the field.
Talking about his form in IPL 2026, The RCB talisman Vira Kohli has been in sublime touch. He has scored 351 runs in eight matches at a tremendous average of 58.50 and at a strike rate of 162.50. He has three half-centuries under his belt and after 39 matches in the tournament, Kohli is indeed at fourth position in the race for the Orange Cap this year.
