He may have retired from international football in 2013, but Rio Ferdinand is on his way to the World Cup - and he's teaming up with Airbnb to offer football fans a once-in-a-lifetime trip.
The former England captain is attending his first tournament as a fan in 30 years, having been either a player or pundit at every tournament since 1998.
Rio will be in Los Angeles where four fans and their plus ones will enjoy a once-in-a-lifetime football experience.
The Ultimate Quarter-Final Getaway includes a three-night stay at an Airbnb in the heart of the city with a private chef service and the chance to meet Rio at a live recording of the 'Rio Ferdinand Presents' podcast.
Guests will go behind-the-scenes with the Manchester United legend and his co-hosts, Joel Beya and Ste Howson plus a special podcast guest. They will also attend a FIFA World Cup quarter-final match in the city.
Rio said: "Football has been my life, and there's no bigger stage than the FIFA World Cup.
This summer's a big one with Airbnb. We're all about bringing fans closer than ever, proper access, big moments, straight from the US.
And for me, it's something new - I'll be experiencing a World Cup as a fan for the first time in over 30 years. I can't wait to get started."
As the final countdown begins, new Airbnb data has revealed that England and Scotland fans top the league for travel to the World Cup, driving an increase in searches by 301% in host cities.
It also shows supporters are turning the tournament into a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for road trips across North America planned around matches. They're planning to stop at three destinations and stay for an average of 15 nights.
Lisa Marçais, general manager, UKI, Northern Europe & MEA, at Airbnb, said: "As the FIFA World Cup 2026 approaches, UK fans are turning their trips into real adventures.
"Whether it's a neighbourhood stay near the stadium or exploring the local city through an Airbnb Experience - from street art walks to food tours - we help fans get closer to the game, the culture, and everything each host city has to offer."
To join Rio in Los Angeles, football fans can request to book The Ultimate Quarter Final Getaway for free from May 12 at 10am BST at airbnb.com/rioferdinand
Four spots are available for a three-night trip (July 8 to 11, 2026), each bookable for free, for one guest and a plus one. They will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.
