At the time of writing, Mario + Rabbids Kingdom Battle has garnered an 8.2 generally favourable rating, with numerous players applauding the gameplay. One player said: "It was my first turn-based strategy game. It has no flaws, and in fact, combining Mario with the Rabbids was a brilliant idea."

Another said: "The first game I ever played on the Switch. This is one of the best titles if you want to get into turn-based strategy games. It is fun for all ages, although don't expect some grand narrative.

"It's very much a Mario game, with a Rabbid coat of paint. The difficulty increases slowly as you progress through the game, and it never feels unfair. Overall, this is a safe pick if you own a Switch. I haven't played the sequel, but it should be similar as well."

Nevertheless, one user noted: "The combat for this game was fun, kind of reminded me of XCOM: Enemy Unknown.
