Turkey (Istanbul): In a joint effort by India’s Enforcement Directorate and intelligence agencies against an international drug syndicate, Dawood Ibrahim’s close associate and notorious drug kingpin Salim Dola was deported from Istanbul to India on Tuesday (April 28), reports said.
Following a successful coordinated operation between Indian intelligence and international agencies, Dola was brought to Delhi airport early Tuesday morning on a special flight.
This development comes after Dola’s arrest in Istanbul, Turkey. Dola’s deportation is seen as a major blow to the underworld’s drug trafficking, as the gangster is accused of handling D-Company’s drug operations from abroad.
Reports state that Dola’s drug cartel managed a narcotics network worth over ₹5,000 crore annually, and no information is available on the total revenue of this international syndicate.
Sources said that after preliminary questioning by central investigative agencies, Dola will be handed over to Mumbai Police or the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB) for further legal action and investigation into the extensive drug trafficking network.
