New Delhi. Iran attacked a chemical tanker flying the flag of West African country Togo, which had 12 Indian crew members on board. The Shipping Ministry said, all the Indian crew members are safe. Iran attacked the Togolese ship near the outer port area of Shinas, Oman. This ship was moving along with other ships, when the Iranian Coast Guard stopped it and fired warning shots.

According to the Ministry of Shipping, the Togo-flagged chemical tanker is named MT Chiron. The ship’s crew included 12 Indians. The Indian Ministry of Shipping and Waterways has shared clear information regarding this attack.
Briefing the media on recent developments in West Asia, Mr. Mandeep Singh Randhawa, Director, Ministry of Shipping and Waterways, said, “All Indian ships and their crews in the Persian Gulf are being closely monitored. All sailors in the Persian Gulf are safe.”
Tensions continue in the Strait of Hormuz.
Iran has always asserted its control over the Strait of Hormuz during wars with the US. The Iranian Navy has clearly stated that no ship can cross the Strait of Hormuz without its permission. The Iranian Navy continues to target ships in the Strait of Hormuz that attempt to cross. Iran recently prevented three ships from crossing the Strait of Hormuz and seized them.
