Jannik Sinner found himself explaining how he does not have any dating apps, after his on-court interview took a surprising turn. Sinner, 24, is back in familiar territory at the top of the tennis charts.

This month, he climbed back up to No. 1 in the world after winning the Monte-Carlo Masters. With Carlos Alcaraz missing the French Open after picking up a wrist injury at the Barcelona Open, Sinner could even open up a gap between his rival. The Italian wracked up even more momentum by overcoming Danish star Elmer Moller 6-2, 6-3, booking a meeting against British ace Cameron Norrie next. However, in his post-match interview, the conversation between Sinner and the reporter took a strange turn.

Before he carried out his English post-match interview, Sinner took and answered some questions in Spanish, having recently started learning. He was then asked about his new language, after showing off his Espanol to those in Madrid.

Sinner went on to say he is not as confident in the language as he is in tennis. The Italian said: "No, it's not good. Not good yet. But my goal is to speak it in one year, Spanish. So I try to learn. I have an Argentinian physio also, which that helps for sure. And then we see. But, I understand a little bit, but I cannot speak it yet."

The reporter then asked what he is doing to try and learn the language, to which Sinner replied: "No, I still need to find out. Duolingo, or the other one is Babbel no? So let's see."

When the reporter misheard him, thinking he said 'Bumble' - a dating app - instead of Babbel, Sinner quickly clarified: "No, no it's not. Babbel. It's not a dating app, I don't need dating apps."

The speed in which Sinner clarified his answer will surely have saved him from a talking to from his girlfriend Laila Hasanovic. He has been in a relationship with the Danish model since last year.

She was one of the first to congratulate the four-time Grand Slam winner after he beat Alvaraz in the Monte Carlo Masters final. Hasanovic was not present in the Spanish capital to see him beat her fellow countryman.

If he gets to the final, she may make an appearance, like she did at the Monte Carlo Masters this month.
