Chennai Super Kings lost heavily against Gujarat Titans at their home in IPL 2026 after failing to restrict the GT batters from chasing a modest target at MA Chidambaram Stadium.
Ruturaj Gaikwad was the only shining star for CSK with his 74 off 60 balls and nothing else went their way. The wickets fell at regular intervals as CSK crumbled to 37/4 and later 96/5 before ending the innings at 158/7 in 20 overs.
Gujarat Titans chased down the score very comfortably with Sai Sudharsan’s brilliant knock of 87 runs and CSK bowlers failed to take wickets in all part of the innings and had only two wickets with them as the GT ended up winning the match in 16.4 overs.
Samson's Furious Reaction to Misfield
However, the match had a moment from the field as well. On the fourth delivery of the 12th over of the Gujarat Titans innings, Jos Buttler punched a slightly shprter delivery from Noor Ahmad towards sweeper cover. But CSK fielder Sarfaraz Khan misses the ball and the batters run two. And the angry reaction of the wicketkeeper Sanju Samson was clearly seen on the field.
Whatever the wicketkeeper spoke was in his mother tongue but fans translated it for everyone and the video clip was going viral all over.

CSK Endure a Tough Campaign
CSK's season has gone from bad to worse. They've played eight matches, winning only three, leaving their chances of qualifying for the playoffs hanging by a thread, and Ruturaj Gaikwad's captaincy being questioned due to inconsistent results.
But Sanju Samson has been their most consistent performer with the bat. He has scored 304 runs at an average of 50.67 and an SR of nearly 170 in 8 innings. Samson has been vital to all their victories to date; he scored two hundreds and a score of 48 in them.
Squad-wise the franchise has had problems. MS Dhoni is unavailable for this campaign due to a calf issue he's suffered for the last few seasons and is undergoing rehabilitation. Kheeal Ahmed has been ruled out for the remainder of the tournament following surgery while a cheek injury for Akeal Hosein in the same match has seen him only play the last two games.
CSK will play their next match against Mumbai Indians at the MA Chidambaram stadium on Saturday, May 2.
