Lucknow Super Giants are going through one of their toughest phases in the IPL and the latest defeat has only made things worse. After a dramatic Super Over loss to Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL 2026, captain Rishabh Pant openly admitted that the team needs a reset to get back on track.

This was LSG’s fifth consecutive loss, leaving them at the bottom of the points table with six defeats in eight matches. The game itself was full of twists. At one stage, LSG had KKR struggling at 93 for 7 but an outstanding unbeaten 83 from Rinku Singh completely changed the momentum. His innings helped KKR post a competitive total of 156.
While chasing, LSG struggled but managed to stay in the contest. A crucial last-ball six from Mohammed Shami pushed the match into a Super Over, giving them one final chance. However, things quickly fell apart. LSG could only manage 1 run for the loss of 2 wickets in the Super Over, which became the lowest total ever recorded in the IPL history. Sunil Narine dismissed Nicholas Pooran and Aiden Markram and KKR finished the game in just one ball.
After the match, Rishabh Pant admitted that too many minds certainly make it difficult on the ground. At the same time, he also added that pressure situations are making it difficult for the team to perform freely. He emphasised the need to keep things simple, focus on internal improvement and take collective responsibility instead of depending on a few individuals.
Rishabh Pant also defended the decision to trust Nicholas Pooran in the Super Over, explaining that even if a player is not in the best form, backing them in crucial moments is important for team confidence.

Despite the poor run and lack of immediate positives, Rishabh Pant remains hopeful. He believes that a short break could help the team refresh mentally and come back stronger.
