The Punjab Kings star spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has placed a fun request in front of the team's co-owner Preity Zinda. Chahal, who is known for his quirks, asked Zinta to give him one match where he can open the batting for PBKS.
On his X account, Chahal wrote,
"Mam, ek match mein open batting karneka chance mil jaaye toh"
To the request, Zinta came with a befitting reply. She assured that Chan can open, but after the IPL ends. She replied,
"For sure, Yuzi. Anything for you, IPL Khatam hone do, uske baad whichever match you like. I'm sure Prabh & Priyansh won't mind then."
Chahal has been invaluable for the Punjab Kings side since the last season. Punjab got him in the mega auction for INR 18 crores and has been the backbone in the middle, providing crucial breakthroughs. He finished with 16 wickets in 14 matches.
However, this year, PBKS has played Chahal as the only spinner who took 4 wickets in 7 matches. In the pace-heavy unchanged side, Chahal is mainly used as a defense to check the runs as and when required.

The Prabh-Priyansh effect on Punjab Kings
The Punjab Kings has been undefeated in all their matches, chasing 5 out of 7 matches mostly due to the opening pair Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya. Recently they chased 264 runs at the Arun Jaitley Stadium against Delhi Capitals, mostly due to the blistering start from the Prabh-Priyansh duo.
In the first 7 matches of 2026, Prabh has amassed 287 runs at a massive strike rate of 192.62. Priaynsh, who looks classier, has been even more aggressive, scoring 254 runs with a staggering strike rate of 249.02 over the same period.
These two make things easy for the middle order guided by Connolly and especially Shreyas on most of the occasions.
Notably, Punjab Kings will face Rajasthan Royals on April 28, that is, tomorrow, in their home, New Chandigarh.
