While his rise in IPL 2026 has been the talk of the season, there have also been some really weird allegations. Rajasthan Royals batsman Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been accused of using an "AI chip" in his bat by Pakistan's cricket expert Nauman Niaz.
This comment was made merely hours after the 15-year-old's century knock and he is undeniably one of the biggest sensations of the season. The teenager has been one of the biggest stars of the tournament, and his aggressive style of batting has astonished everyone, yet while his performances have deserved praise, they have also been met with criticism.
A Bizarre Claim After a Brilliant Performance
Nauman Niaz stated this on a show while questioned how can a young player have such immense power in his batting.
Niaz stated:
“Think about it. What is this kid? Get his bat checked. Like WADA conducts dope tests, send him to a lab. He probably used an AI chip in his bat. He is unreal. What a player. I did get a feeling he was playing a tad slow. This made me think, what is this guy? When you’re 18, your body builds muscle, biceps, and triceps. This one is just 16. He was born when Virat Kohli was a world champion. He doesn’t have the power game as much as he has technique. He is a wristy player, plus, if you look at this arc, he used the full 360 degree."

The claims went viral over social media, many dismisses the statement as a statement made out of desperation and hyperbole, but still others chose to focus on the player's skills and consistency.
There is absolutely no proof for this claim, and the player has adhered to all rules and received praise from many retired professionals for his technique and composure.

RR Teen Continues to Shine in IPL 2026
Notwithstanding the above, Sooryavanshi's statistics clearly tell their own story. He recently notched up a ton against Sunrisers Hyderabad reaching the milestone in just 36 balls balls. Prior to that, he scored 78 off 26 deliveries against RCB and was only few balls short of scoring the fastest ever IPL ton.
He has already piled on 357 runs in eight outings of IPL 2026. He stands at second in the running for the Orange Cap right behind the top position. He is already outscoring big Indian names like KL Rahul, Virat Kohli and Shubman Gill, while Heinrich Klaasen is the only overseas player in the leading quartet.
There is really nothing that the young prodigy can’t do; he has only made a big impact ever since. Scoring runs across England, Australia and South Africa, he also helped India bag the U-19 World Cup earlier this year.
An India cap seems imminent; with form like this and at his age he can’t be too far off from representing his nation.
