Two Emmerdale stars have opened up about Cain and Moira Dingle's future amid their recent marriage troubles. The beloved couple, who are played by Jeff Hordley and Natalie J Robb, were recently reunited when Moira was released from prison, after she was wrongly arrested for Celia Daniels (Jaye Griffiths) and Ray Walters' (Joe Absolom) crimes.
Despite their happy reunion, Cain and Moira have since clashed. Moira has been trying to get her husband to have surgery following his prostate cancer diagnosis, leading to several heated interactions between the pair. The drama continued last week when Cain forgot Moira's birthday.
The drama intensifies during Monday's (April 27) episode, which is now available to stream on ITVX. Cain is left frustrated that Moira is spending more time at her old farm rather than helping him - leading to a growing distance between them. Despite Robert Sugden's (Ryan Hawley) protests, Moira insists on helping, which only heightens Robert's guilt after Joe Tate (Ned Porteous) blackmailed him into planting illegal IDs at Butler's Farm, leading to her imprisonment.
Later, sensing something amiss about his behaviour, Moira pushes him for the truth, with Robert revealing exactly what Joe made him do. Moira is devastated by his revelation and issues him an ultimatum: he must go to the police, or she will.
Actors Jeff and Natalie appeared on ITV's This Morning to discuss their storyline, as fans continue to theorise over their possible on-screen divorce. "[Moira's] taken her eye off this farm that [Cain's] worked so hard to get for her while she's been in prison, and she's just going off not being involved," Jeff explained to hosts Cat Deeley and Ben Shephard.
Natalie added: "[She] can't let go. It's been 17 years up at that farm."
Revealing what happens next after the Joe revelation, Natalie continued: "There will be a shotgun involved. There's always a shotgun involved. If you endanger her family, that's it, the gun comes out, but on Joe Tate. She goes round there with every intention to murder him."
The stars also spoke about the importance of Cain's prostate cancer storyline, which Jeff described as a "really humbling" experience for him as an actor. "He doesn't want things to change between him and Moira," the star shared. "Underpinning all of this is the love story between Cain and Moira as well."
Natalie concluded: "We're still married - that's quite something in soapland!"
On Wednesday (April 29), Emmerdale will air a special episode centred around Cain and Moira's marriage troubles. Cain struggles to open up about his ongoing fears surrounding his illness. He then leaves his friend, Liam Cavanagh (Jonny McPherson), alarmed when he suggests it might be better to cancel the surgery.
Meanwhile, Moira confides in her sister-in-law Chas (Lucy Pargeter) about the fragile state of her relationship with Cain. This comes after many Emmerdale fans were left worried about Cain and Moira's marriage.
"I really hope they don't split Cain and Moira up," one person wrote on a Facebook fan page, with another adding: "Omg Moira and Cain can't split, I wouldn't be able to cope."
A third said: "I am worried because it looks like Cain and Moira are headed for a divorce."
Emmerdale airs weekday nights at 8pm on ITV1 and STV, while Coronation Street airs weekday nights at 8.30pm on ITV1 and STV
