A UK transport company that has been operating since 1974 has entered administration. A notice was shared in the London Gazette today, revealing that John K Philips Group Limited entered administration on April 20, 2026. The company was founded when John Philips bought his first truck and set up a small business delivering paint more than 50 years ago. It has since become one of the biggest distribution companies in the North West of England.

Its fleet currently consists of 1.2 tonne capacity vans, 18 tonne rigids with tail lifts, 26 tonne rigids with tail lifts and 44 tonne tractor units. According to the company's website, it specialises in the transportation of dangerous goods and chemicals. The company has not shared a statement about entering administration, and its website and social media accounts remain active. According to the Gazette, it has a registered address at Solar 120, 110 Europa Boulevard, Westbrook, Warrington, Cheshire.

Patrick Lannagan and Richard Hough, both of Forvis Mazars LLP, have been appointed as joint administrators. The notice describes the company's nature of business as the "operation of warehousing and storage facilities for land transport activities".

Companies tend to enter administration when they are in debt and cannot repay their creditors. During the process, the company is protected from legal action by people or organisations owed money, and no one can apply to wind up the company during administration.

The aim of administration is generally to save part or all of a struggling business, and administrators must be professional insolvency practitioners.

John K Philips Group Limited is still active on LinkedIn and shared a job ad for a Business Development Manager just one month ago. However, it is no longer accepting applications.

All of the firm's drivers are ADR-trained, and all vehicles are ADR-compliant, its website states. John K Philips Group Limited also operates a 250,000 sq. ft. warehouse, which it says makes it "the ideal one-stop-shop for all your supply chain needs".

It is one of several companies that have recently entered administration. SK Food and Drinks Limited recently joined the ever-expanding list, entering administration on April 21, as well as the UK's leading crab kitchen, Blue Sea Food Company.
