Right before Dhurandhar came out, Ranveer Singh found himself in the middle of an impossible controversy. People were already skeptical about watching the film at that time because word of mouth hadn't done its magic yet. It was during an event that he tried to mimic Kantara and got into deep trouble.

Although the hype around the Aditya Dhar movie subdued much of the damage, the Karnataka High Court did not forget, nor was it ready to forgive without consequences. However, it would seem that the controversy has finally come to an end.

During the 56th International Film Festival of India held in Goa, Ranveer Singh had mimicked Chamunda Devi, hurting religious sentiments that Kantara honoured. Rishab Shetty had warned the actor not to go ahead with it, but he did so anyway and was met with grave consequences.

The actor has been profusely apologising since the controversy, giving unconditional apologies and even promising to visit Chamundeshwari Temple to pay his respects the right way. He went beyond an online or social media apology to show just how genuine he was.

He had previously posted an Instagram story on the matter, one that the court dismissed. “My intention was to highlight Rishabh Shetty’s incredible performance in the film. Actor to actor, I know how much it would take to perform that particular scene in the way he did, for which he has my utmost admiration. I have always deeply respected every cultural tradition and belief in our country. If I’ve hurt anyone’s sentiments, I sincerely apologise.”

Justice M. Nagaprasanna, who heard the entire case, and the counsel have agreed to dismiss the case once the now updated affidavit, one that Ranveer’s lawyer changed without any conditions. His promise of visiting the temple is something the court is depending on. However, after months of drowning in this controversy, the situation may finally be behind the Karnataka High Court and the Dhurandhar star.
