The following day at 2:58 pm, the candidate informed the HR that he had joined the meeting. After receiving no response, he sent a follow up message at 3:07 pm seeking an update on the interview.

In response, the HR stated that the meeting link would be shared one hour before the scheduled time, without acknowledging that the interview time had already passed. The HR also mentioned not feeling well.

Candidate calls out unprofessional conduct

The candidate pointed out that the interview was scheduled for 3 pm and criticised the lack of communication. He described the situation as unprofessional and informed the HR that he was no longer interested in the opportunity before blocking further contact.

In his message, the candidate stated that he had been preparing for the interview since morning and cited the absence of timely communication as the reason for withdrawing his application.

Online reactions highlight frustration with hiring practices

“Great to see this in current job market. The candidate must be highly skilled,” one user wrote.

“It reminds me of my interviews back in 2020–21. They used to schedule my interviews for 4:00 AM, or sometimes late at night around 10:00 or 11:00 PM. I would wait for them, but there was often no response. This HR behavior is really frustrating; sometimes they would even be casually drinking coffee or tea during the call. It sounds so unprofessional,” another user said.

“Professionalism and the value of time should be adhered from both sides,” a third user said.

“Great move, these HRs seem to be the most professional and advanced but in reality they are dumb with a cheap attitude with no politeness,” another user said.

“The most unprofessional department in any company is HR department and most arrogant as well. They are the ones who hinder companies growth and most exploit employees in name of policies. Imagine when employees are already in vacation mood before festivals and are trying to,” another user said.
