After suffering another heart-wrenching loss in IPL 2026 against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) in the Super Over encounter that took place at Ekana Cricket Stadium, Lucknow on April 26, skipper of the team Rishabh Pant acknowledged the need of break for the LSG side.

Following this disappointing outcome, the LSG side now rests at the last place in the points table with two wins under their belt in 8 games. There has hardly been a game where anything has gone well for the team in the IPL 2026 and latest encounter proved yet again the way their campaign is going down in a snap.

"I think we need a break definitely," Pant had spoken after the match while also emphasizing on how the team must take mental rest from the mounting pressure.

Pant Asks the Team to take responsibility

The skipper clearly stated that the team must find solutions from within themselves rather than pinning it on a few members of the team to lead the way.

Pant had spoken while the skipper also went on to suggest that the mood in the LSG camp was still seeking answers for the problems that are bugging them during the course of the season.

Pant said:

"I think we're going to refresh. There is always pressure and it is always going to be a pressure game. But at the same time we have to look for answers inside not outside. We just have to keep it simple. Every single guy has to take accountability. It cannot be about one or two guys. It has to be about the whole unit."

Pant Defends Key Team Decisions Even After the Loss

While speaking further on the matters post match the skipper also defended a couple of key decisions in the Super Over. Pant stated that even though Nicholas Pooran might not be in the best of forms the captain trusted him for a high pressure situation.

Pant said:

"We had a discussion as a group, and the name that came up was Nicky P. He might not be in the best form of his life, but at the same time, you trust your player in a tough situation like this and hope they come good,"

Pant defended the bowlers too and stressed that his aim in Super Over was only to snatch a wicket at crucial moments which unfortunately he could not do.

He further added:

"I was looking for a wicket. I just did not get one. That was the thought process behind it."

As the LSG take a short break from their IPL 2026 campaign, the skipper is looking for his players to stay calm and work as one unit if they aspire to bounce back from their slump.
