New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) wicketkeeper Sanju Samson pulled off an MS Dhoni-style lightning-fast stumping to dismiss Gujarat Titans (GT) captain Shubman Gill in theIPL 2026 clash at the MA Chidambaram Stadium on Sunday, April 26.
With that stumping, Samson helped CSK to break the 58-run partnership for the first between Gill and Sai Sudharsan. The GT skipper walked back to the dressing room after scoring 33 runs off 23 balls with the help of three sixes and a boundary.

The CSK wicketkeeper was too quick from behind the stumps and whipped the bails in the blink of an eye with Gill’s foot in the air. His brilliant work gave CSK their first breakthrough in the match.

Samson has been in great form for CSK in the ongoing season, and has smashed two hundreds, so far. But, he only scored just 11 runs off 15 deliveries in the match against GT. Samson also became the fastest Indian batter to score 5000 IPL runs, breaking Suresh Raina’s record. Overall, he is the 10th batter to complete 5000 runs in IPL history.
Sudharsan shines as GT beat CSKAfter being asked to bat first, CSK posted 158/7 in 20 overs. Captain Ruturaj Gaikwad scored an unbeaten 74 runs off 60 balls with the help of six boundaries and four maximums. Samson, Urvil Patel, Sarfaraz Khan and Dewald Brevis failed to contribute, but Gaikwad stitched crucial partnerships with Shivam Dube, Kartik Sharma, and Jamie Overton to help CSK set a 159-run target for GT.
In reply, GT got off to a good start as Sai Sudharsan forged a 58-run partnership for the opening wicket with Shubman Gill. The GT captain was dismissed by Noor Ahmad for 33 runs in the seventh over, but Sudharsan stitched a match-winning 97-run partnership with Jos Buttler to help GT beat CSK by 9 wickets. Sudharsan scored 87 runs off 46 balls, smashing 7 maximums and four boundaries.
