In the match no 37 of Indian premier league 2026 between Chennai super kings and Gujarat titans, the CSK batters found no footing in the match as they could muster just 158 runs at the loss of 7 wickets in the full 20 overs.
There were glimpses of resilience with Ruturaj Gaikwad, skipper of the side being unbeaten at 74 runs off 60 deliveries, but consistent loss of wickets kept the side on the back foot throughout most of the innings in front of their home ground.
Brevis Struggles After Risky Shot
One of the key moments was when Dewald Brevis walked out at five in the batting line-up. Although he is known for playing aggressively with confidence, in this particular innings, he couldn't manage to start well. The batter hailing from South Africa scored only 2 runs from 9 deliveries.
Dewald Brevis, who likes playing his signature no-look shot, decided to attempt it against Manav Suthar. Unfortunately for him, he couldn't time his stroke properly, as a result of which, the ball went to Shubman Gill and GT skipper made no mistake.

After being back from an injury, Brevis has been in poor form lately, leading to his inconsistent performances. Known as "Baby AB," Brevis hasn't been able to impress anyone lately.

CSK Batting Woes Persist
The batting lineup of Chennai Super Kings has not been performing consistently during the IPL 2026 campaign. Even though they have won some matches convincingly, early dismissals of top batters have created difficulties for their middle-order players.
Earlier in this tournament, Sanju Samson and Ayush Mhatre guided CSK's batting, while Sarfaraz played some crucial knocks. However, since Mhatre has been ruled out, the responsibility of the batting was on the shoulders of Sanju Samson and CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad.
In this particular contest, only Ruturaj Gaikwad proved to be reliable as other batters could not develop good partnerships. The bowlers of Gujarat Titans were relentless under the leadership of Kagiso Rabada.
Considering the current score of 158, the bowlers of Chennai Super Kings must work hard to keep their hopes alive in this contest.
