Thomas Markle told a royal author that his daughter Meghan Markle always wanted to be "the star" with a very telling story. Meghan's dad, who the duchess hasn't spoken to for some time and remains estranged from, reportedly once told author Tom Bower about a conversation he had with the duchess when she was just five-years-old.
According to Tom Bower, who recently celebrated the publication of his book Betrayal: Power, Deceit and the Fight for the Future of the Royal Family, Thomas Markle once took Meghan to a red carpet event when she was a child. This was because Thomas was a lightning director in Hollywood.
At the event, Meghan reportedly told her father that she wanted to be a "star".
Recalling the story on The Daily Expresso podcast, Bower said: "Her (Meghan's) father, who is a good man and she's treated appallingly, told me of this instance when she was 5 years old.
"He was a very successful lighting director in Hollywood and he took her down the red carpet on some opening night.
"And she said 'Daddy I want to do this, I want to be the star'. And that was it, she wanted to be the star."
Bower continued: "She then became the star by getting married to Harry, a global star, but instead of being happy with that and taking the terms, she was determined that everything had to be on her terms."
Meghan Markle has never responded to this claim; however, both Meghan and Harry are not believed to be friendly with the royal author.
They slammed his latest book, claiming it was a "deranged conspiracy".
They also said in the same statement that Bower has "made a career out of constructing ever more elaborate theories about people he does not know and has never met".
