People’s life is breathing in the flames of Boishakh. Air cooler has become the last hope of many people in the scorching sun and intense heat. For those who cannot afford AC, the wheels of the cooler are running in their drawing room or bedroom. But did you know, a little carelessness can turn your beloved device into a death trap? The recent incident of death due to electrocution from coolers in Telangana is giving us a fresh warning. Know that any mistake can be paid with life.
Be careful when filling with water
Many people lazily fill the cooler while it is running. This is the biggest mistake. Water and electricity—the chemistry between these two can turn deadly in an instant. So before pouring water or cleaning the cooler, always remove the plug completely from the socket. Touching a switch or plug with wet hands is inviting death.
Check the wiring
Before using the old cooler again, it is important to check the condition of the wiring. The plastic sheathing of the wire is often torn by mice or other causes from years of lying around. If exposed to its iron body, the entire device can turn into a xyant bomb. Especially those who have old model coolers with iron body at home, the risk of danger is several times higher. For safety reasons, it is wise to use fiber or plastic body shock-proof coolers available in the current market.

Don’t ignore signs of shock
Do you sometimes feel a slight tickle while switching the cooler? Or a slight shock when touching the device? But know that this is an advance message of a major accident. Do not ignore this small symptom and have it checked by a qualified electrician immediately. Such cases occur due to earthing problems. Also, do not touch the switch of the cooler after bathing or with a wet body. As water is a good conductor of electricity, the intensity of the shock increases greatly on a wet body. Always operate the cooler with dry feet and using plastic mats.
