Rivalry is common on the cricket field, but when it comes to rift in friendship, it is bound to make headlines. The famous ‘slap incident’ that happened between Harbhajan Singh and S Sreesanth in 2008 is once again in the news. This time Sreesanth has targeted Bhajji by making a sensational claim. Sreesanth says that Harbhajan has used this old controversial incident to earn money and has collected around Rs 1 crore from it.

Claim of earning through advertising

Recently, while talking to a Malayalam news outlet ‘Mathrubhoomi’, Sreesanth expressed his pain. He alleged that Harbhajan Singh shot an advertisement based on that controversy, which earned him Rs 80 lakh to Rs 1 crore. According to Sreesanth, Bhajji had also called him and asked him to promote this advertisement on social media. Sreesanth said clearly, “I have forgiven him, but I can never forget this incident. If you forget, the other person repeats the same mistake and Bhajji is the biggest example of this.”

‘Brother’ friendship broke

Sreesanth, who once considered Harbhajan as his ‘brother’, has now completely broken ties with him. He told that he was so hurt by Harbhajan’s recent actions that he has blocked Bhajji on Instagram. Expressing his displeasure, Sreesanth said that in many interviews, Harbhajan mentioned his daughter so that people consider him a ‘good person’, but in Sreesanth’s eyes all this is just a ‘drama’. He clarified that now he has no relation with this former spinner.

What was the whole controversy?

This entire incident pertains to the first season of IPL (2008). After the match between Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings, Harbhajan Singh slapped Sreesanth when the players were shaking hands with each other. Sreesanth was seen crying on the field, after which Bhajji was banned for that season. Recently, former IPL chairman Lalit Modi also refreshed old memories by sharing the video of this incident on social media. Although Bhajji has publicly apologized for this several times, but Sreesanth’s latest statements have made it clear that the sourness between them has not ended yet.
