Rod Stewart and Penny Lancaster own numerous properties around the world, but once resided in a vast mansion now valued at a staggering £8.5million. The couple, who have been wed since 2007, moved into the six-bedroom residence in 2013 having bought it for in excess of £4million.
Yet just three years later, the Epping manor house was placed on the market after the musician, 81, and Penny, 55, relocated to a different part of the country to be nearer to their sons' schools. The couple welcomed Alastair and Aiden in 2005 and 2011 respectively, while the Maggie May hitmaker has eight children in total from his ex-wives and previous partners. With the property failing to attract a buyer for three years, Sir Rod was compelled to slash the original asking price of £7.5 million by almost half, eventually offloading it for £4.1million to footballer Andy Carroll and Billi Mucklow.
However, the duo put the house back on the market last year after announcing their breakup, with the property now reportedly valued at closer to £8.5 million - more than double the sum Sir Rod sold it for.
According to The Guardian, he now enjoys a peaceful existence with his third wife, Penny Lancaster-Stewart, 53, and their two sons, Alastair and Aiden, in a 10-bedroom, Grade II-listed mansion on the Hertfordshire and Essex border, near Sawbridgeworth village.
Their lavish home boasts 46 acres of land and woodland, complete with self-contained cottages, a walled garden, a swimming pool, a football pitch, and a croquet lawn.
The town that they live in now is very quiet and is steeped in history, with buildings harking back to the Tudor, Stuart and Georgian eras.
Homes there sell for an average of £481,288, according to Rightmove. The majority of properties sold in Sawbridgeworth during the last year were detached houses, fetching an average price of £704,776.
Flats were sold for an average of £219,445, while semi-detached properties commanded £481,727.
