Be careful! The heat has now become an open warning. At many places the temperature has crossed 43 degrees. The situation is that out of the 20 hottest cities in the world, 19 are from India and the Meteorological Department has clearly said that the mercury will rise further. Meaning, the sun will be strong, the air will be hot and this hot air will quickly turn into heat stroke and spoil the body’s system. Yes but the story is not that complete. Listen carefully, the danger is not just the heat outside. One heat wave is going on outside and the other people are taking it inside the body on their own.

Yes, in the name of quenching thirst, instead of water, buttermilk, lemonade or coconut water, people turn to cold drinks, sugary drinks and energy drinks. Drinking it definitely gives an instant feeling of relief, but something else is at play inside. Because these drinks are not just cool, they often contain excess sugar, caffeine, acid, artificial sweeteners and other stimulants. Energy drinks give the body a short-term kick, but can also cause more fatigue, restlessness and crashes later on. Drinking frequently can disturb blood sugar and insulin. This can lead to obesity, diabetes, metabolic syndrome, high BP and increased pressure on the heart.

Not only this, such drinks harm teeth, bones, acidity, liver and kidneys and the biggest deception in summer is that even cold drinks can increase dehydration. That means heat from outside, wrong drink from inside, the result is double attack on health and one thing which is most important in all this is that it is absolutely not right to give caffeinated drinks regularly to children below 12 years of age. The development of their brain, bones and muscles is affected. This means that the drinks that claim to give energy actually take away all the energy and this is something that especially Gen Z needs to understand. If you want to look truly cool then it would be wise to choose water, lemon water, buttermilk, sattu or coconut water when you feel thirsty. Because in summer the real energy is not obtained from the gas in the bottle but from proper hydration.
