India is home to many peculiar places and phenomena that often leave people astonished. Some of these are so extraordinary that it’s hard to believe until witnessed firsthand. One such remarkable location is a railway station that might challenge your belief.

Today, we will discuss a unique railway station in India. If you ever need to board a train from this station, you will have to purchase a ticket. However, the twist is that you must stand in line in Rajasthan to get the ticket, while the ticket counter is located in Madhya Pradesh. Let’s delve into how this works.

The Station Located in Jhalawar, Rajasthan

The railway station we are referring to is situated in the Jhalawar district of Rajasthan. Its geographical location has made it a topic of interest. Trains arriving at this station are split between two states, with part of the train stationed in one state and the other part in another.

This railway station falls under the Kota division and is known as Bhawani Mandi Railway Station. It is uniquely positioned between the states of Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh, making it the only one of its kind in India. Notably, the culture of both states is reflected at this station.

Ticket Line in Rajasthan, Counter in Madhya Pradesh

This station, located on the border of both states, has gained attention for its unique characteristics. Interestingly, passengers must queue for tickets in Rajasthan, but the ticket collector is based in Madhya Pradesh. This unusual arrangement is due to the ticket office being situated right on the state line.

Bhawani Mandi Station is quite busy, with many people from Madhya Pradesh traveling here for work. There is a notable camaraderie between the residents of both states. Additionally, for those living on the Rajasthan border, the front door of their homes opens into Bhawani Mandi, while the back door leads to Bhainsoda Mandi in Madhya Pradesh. Their markets are also shared.

A Film Inspired by the Station

Interestingly, a movie titled 'Bhawani Mandi Station' has been made, inspired by this railway station. Directed by Saeed Faizan Hussain, this comedy film featured performances by actors like Jaideep Ahlawat.

However, it is less known that this area has a notorious reputation for smuggling. Criminals exploit the border, often engaging in theft and smuggling across state lines. This has led to disputes between the police forces of both states on several occasions.
