Hollywood 'recluse' Jack Nicholson looked unrecognisable in a photo posted on his 89th birthday by his daughter Lorraine. The Shining star, who celebrated his birthday on April 22nd, was pictured in a back-to-back snap - first in his younger years, looking dapper in a black blazer and grey tie, and then at home in more casual wear.

In the latest snap, Jack sported grey hair and matching stubble, wearing orange trousers and a grey polo shirt underneath a cardigan. He grinned to someone off-camera while clapping his hands together, with his daughter Lorraine captioning her post: "89?!" Snapped in the background was his close pal Joni Mitchell.

It comes after sources claimed that Jack was "a little wobbly" and "didn't like to be seen in public".

Last year a source told the New York Post: "Part of his appeal in the past was his extravagant character and lifestyle. But that all catches up with you after a while.

"I think Jack and his inner circle prefer that you remember him as he was."

Jack lives in a $5million mansion in Beverly Hills, occupying one acre on Mulholland Drive. It was previously owned by Marlon Brando.

He has been spotted out at various NBA games in recent years, usually with his son Ray at his side, but sources claimed there is a "lot of concern" for the retired actor.

One told Closer magazine: "Jack has been slowing down a lot in recent years and has become somewhat of a recluse.

"There was a lot of concern for him because of it and even though he played it down and told people he was just fine, he's definitely had some pretty serious health struggles."
