There has been a lot of talk about ‘selfless approach’ in Indian cricket for some time now. Players are not thinking about their milestones, but about the team. Now there is no discussion about anyone’s century or personal milestone. People just want to see their favorite team winning. This is why Sai Sudarshan is being criticized despite scoring a century in the Indian Premier League (IPL) on Friday (April 24) night.

Gujarat Titans (GT) opener Sudarshan took 57 balls to reach triple figures against Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium. After this, when he needed to speed up his innings, he became the victim of Josh Hazlewood. Sudarshan returned to the pavilion after scoring 100 runs in 58 balls with the help of 11 fours and 5 sixes.

Sudarshan slowed down after getting close to his century

24 year old Sudarshan had once reached 78 runs in 42 balls. After struggling in the beginning, the way this young opening batsman was batting, it seemed that he would complete his century in the next 8-10 balls. But he slowed down as he approached his century. He scored the last 22 runs of his innings in 16 balls, due to which he has come under the target of critics. People believe that what is the use of a century which is not useful to the team. Former Indian cricketer Saba Karib even criticized Sudarshan for not showing haste to score a century on air.

GT lost badly to RCB

When Sudarshan was out, GT’s score was 160/2 in 15.3 overs. With Jos Buttler at the crease, the score seemed to be crossing 220. But in the 17th, 18th and 19th overs, GT batsmen could not hit any boundaries. It must be good for Jason Holder, who took GT beyond 200 by hitting 2 sixes and 1 four in the last over against Krunal Pandya, otherwise at one time it too would have been in trouble. However his attempt proved unsuccessful. RCB achieved the target of 206 runs without any problem by losing 5 wickets in 18.5 overs. Virat Kohli scored 81 runs in 44 balls, while Devdutt Padikkal scored 55 runs in 27 balls. Krunal scored unbeaten 23 runs in 12 balls.
