New Delhi: Royal Challengers Bengaluru did a fine job by restricting Gujarat Titans to 205/3 in their Indian Premier League 2026 clash in Bengaluru on Friday. Though the Titans scored a competitive total but the side at one point of the time look poised to cross the 250-run mark but RCB did well to limit them to just over 200.
After the Titans were put into bat first, openers Sai Sudharsan and skipper Shubamn Gill stitched 128 runs for the opening wicket to push RCB against the wall. Sudharsan smashed his first century in IPL 2026 and his third overall while Gill was calmly supporting him from the other end as the duo ripped apart the RCB bowlers.
The left-handed batter also became the fastest player in terms of number of innings to cross the 200o-run mark in the cash-rich league. He got to the record with a massive six as all the Titans’ fans erupted in joy at the stadium.
RCB bowlers stop run-flowSuyash Sharma pitched in with his first wicket removing Gill for 32 runs and breaking the lethal stand while Aussie quick Josh Hazlewood claimed the prized scalp of Sudharsan for 100 to put a break on the quick run-flow. Bhuvneshwar Kumar removed experienced Jos Buttler for 25 runs as RCB managed the things quite effectively on the field.
The hosts were well in control of the game before Jason Holder added 18 runs in the last over to help Gujarat cross the 200-run mark. All-rounder Washington Sundar also contributed with 19 runs to spoil the efforts of the RCB side.
Krunal Pandya was the most expensive bowler giving away 50 runs while Hazlewood and Suyash gave away 40 and 36 runs respectively. Rasikh Salam Dar was economical with just 28 runs in 3 overs, though ending wicketless. GT are currently placed 7th on the points table while RCB are placed 3rd.
