There was a worrying moment for the Delhi Capitals in a practice session during IPL 2026, as one of their young batters was hit in the face by a ball at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Friday, and had to be taken away by ambulance.
Sources indicated that the accident occurred during an informal training session, and the player received medical attention on the field immediately before being put on a stretcher. From there, the player was quickly taken to a nearby medical facility for an examination. Images from the accident immediately began circulating social media.
The identity of the player who was hit is currently unconfirmed. However, indications are that it may have been Sahil Parakh, the 18 year old left-hander who was bought at auction in IPL 2026. No official statement has yet been released by the Capitals.

Sahil Parakh would, if confirmed, be one of the younger members of the Delhi Capitals' playing squad for this year. He is yet to make his IPL debut, though he is viewed as being a potential star of the future.
The situation has served as a stark reminder that the dangers faced by cricketers don't necessarily stop during practice. A hit in the face could be fatal and hence a speedy medical intervention is crucial when a player has been struck. The fact that an ambulance was involved illustrates the concern felt for his well being.
The fans wait on an official statement from the franchise.

Injury Concern Grows for Delhi Capitals
This news only adds to the injury woes that the Delhi Capitals have been battling throughout the season. The Delhi franchise had already been hit with many injuries.
England batter Ben Duckett ruled himself out of IPL 2026, to keep himself fit for the Test matches. Star Australian paceman Mitchell Starc is yet to play his first match for the Delhi side, due to a shoulder niggle. Even skipper Axar Patel retired out in one of the early games of the season due to cramps.
With these major injuries on their roster and now this unfortunate training incident, the Delhi Capitals have already been put into a difficult position and the team management would have to hope for a better news for the key members.
