Antoine Fuqua’s latest directorial, Michael, based on the life of the late pop star, Michael Jackson, garnered overwhelmingly negative reviews from critics. After its paid previews, viewers gave the biopic glowing reviews, painting a stark difference between legacy media and general audience.

After the film premiered in the US on Monday night, reviews started pouring in. The film opened to a disappointing 27% on Rotten Tomatoes and has gone up to 35% based on 99 reviews. It has grown to 40% based on 164 reviews. Fans reacted to the low rating and alleged that the critics are biased.

The film’s audience score went up recently. Shocking everyone, Michael scored a whopping 96% based on more than 1000 ratings.

According to the fans, the polarising scores from critics and audience indicate a discriminating outlook from media towards the late star. They slammed the critics, calling their reviews uneven and one-sided.

Many believed that the critics were sharing biased reviews deliberately. Some also said that they purposely slammed the biopic as they believe that the allegations against Jackson were true.
