New Delhi:Vespa has unveiled the Tech 80th special edition in India to mark the brand’s 80th anniversary. Coming in two versions, 125 cc and 150 cc versions, the commemorative model takes inspiration from the original Vespa launched back in 1946, mixing both retro design and modern hardware.
The Tech 80th edition comes with a distinctive Verde Pastello green paint that is inspired by early Vespa models from the late 1940s. This colour extends to different elements, which include things like the front shield trim, mirrors, grab handle, switchgear and front suspension linkage. Contrasting darker green elements are also used on the seat, footrest inserts and handle grips.

Design details further reinforce the heritage theme with the wheels styled to resemble those on the original Vespa 98, finished in the same green shade with a diamond-cut effect. Up front, the scooter comes with the ‘80th’ badge alongside the Vespa logo, while the back comes with a special ‘80 years of Vespa Est. 1946’ insignia.
Even though it gets the retro styling, the Tech 80th edition is based on Vespa’s current platform, retaining modern features and underpinnings from the standard range. It will come with both 125 cc and 150 cc setups in India. For reference, the smaller 124.4 cc, single-cylinder, air-cooled engine makes 9.5 bhp and 10.1 Nm of torque.
The bigger 149.5cc, single-cyl, air-cooled engine produces out 11.4hp and 11.6 Nm. Pricing hasn’t yet been announced and is likely to be announced next week.
