The independent non-executive directors, namely Jennifer Duong Young, Wong Ai Ai and Daniel Marie Ghislain Desbaillets, will resign from the board of Millennium & Copthorne Hotels, effective Wednesday, CDL said in a bourse filing cited by Singapore Business Review.
The property developer said in a separate statement that the directors had been brought in to “strengthen governance at a key subsidiary,” as quoted by The Business Times.
“With this now largely addressed, they have stepped down to focus on their responsibilities on the CDL board and its committees,” it said, adding that the changes will not affect operations or oversight of the unit.

Young was one of two independent directors appointed to the board of CDL last February in a move questioned by Kwek, who then filed a lawsuit against his son Sherman Kwek, the firm’s group CEO, alleging an “attempted coup” to consolidate control of the board.
The suit, which also named Young, Wong and Desbaillets, sparked a public spat between the father and son.
Sherman blamed the feud on Catherine Wu, a long-time adviser to his father and an unpaid independent adviser to the M&C board, whom he alleged had interfered in matters beyond her role.
The lawsuit was later dropped and the two Kweks eventually reconciled, but only after Wu stepped down from her role at the hotel unit.
The latest departures come as a rebound in Singapore’s property market has lifted CDL’s share price. The firm is also expected to release the results of a strategic review by mid-2026 amid efforts to restore investor confidence, according to Bloomberg.
The developer earlier posted a net profit of S$629.7 million (US$493.5 million) for the 2025 financial year, nearly three times higher than in 2024.
Kwek and his family were ranked second on Forbes’ list of the richest people in Singapore last September, holding a combined net worth of US$14.3 billion.
