Chennai Super Kings: The Chennai Super Kings team has suffered a big setback during IPL 2026. The team's young batsman Ayush Mhatre is out of the entire season due to injury. His hamstring was stretched while batting in the match against Hyderabad. Due to which he is no longer a part of the team. In such a situation, Chennai Super Kings has announced his replacement. CSK has taken a surprising decision and included an Indian bowler in the team in place of Ayush Mhatre.

Chennai Super Kings has signed fast bowler Akash Madhwal in place of Ayush Mhatre. Madhwal is a right-arm fast bowler who has previously played in the IPL for Mumbai Indians (2023 and 2024) and Rajasthan Royals (2025). Till now he has played 17 IPL matches and taken 23 wickets. Madhwal's most memorable match was the eliminator match of the 2023 season, when he took 5 wickets for 5 runs in just 3.3 overs against Lucknow Super Giants. This performance is the best figure of an uncapped player in the IPL playoffs and he also received the Player of the Match award.

In IPL 2023, he took 14 wickets in 8 matches. At the same time, he took 5 wickets in 5 matches in 2024 and 4 wickets in 4 matches for Rajasthan Royals in 2025. Madhwal is known for his accurate line-length and fast bowling, which proves to be especially effective in the death overs. In such a situation, he can prove to be a big match winner for Chennai Super Kings in the remaining season.

Ayush Mhatre's exit is a big shock

Ayush Mhatre was in great form for CSK this season. He scored two half-centuries in just six matches and gave a strong start to the team in the top order.
