Expedia names former Snap executive as new CFO

Online travel firm Expedia Group on Thursday named former Snap executive Derek Andersen as its new finance chief, ‌replacing Scott ⁠Schenkel.

The ⁠change comes amid ​lingering fears of an AI-led disruption to ​the business models of most online travel ​firms.

Andersen was most ⁠recently finance ‌chief at ​Snapchat ​parent Snap, and ⁠will take charge at Expedia on ​May 11. He will ​report to CEO Ariane Gorin, Expedia said in a release.


The Seattle-based owner of ‌Hotels.com is set to report its first-quarter ​earnings on ​May ⁠7.

Outgoing CFO Schenkel will step down after 16 months in ​the role.

Shares of the company were down 2% pre-market.
