West Bengal Assembly Election 2026: A tense situation prevailed during polling in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district. Humayun Kabir, who quit Trinamool Congress (TMC), and TMC workers had a heated argument. In the meantime, slogans were raised against Humayun Kabir, and information has also come to light that there was a scuffle with the security personnel.

Big clash between two groups at Nauda

Humayun Kabir and TMC block president had a heated verbal exchange at Nauda in Murshidabad. Humayun Kabir is currently the candidate of ‘Aam Janata Unnayan Party’ and he had earlier resigned from TMC. Slogans like ‘thief-thief’ were raised against him.

Humayun Kabir accused TMC of spoiling the atmosphere. After that, TMC supporters protested strongly and shouted slogans. Although the situation became tense, a major clash was averted due to the intervention of security personnel. Meanwhile, TMC workers have accused Humayun Kabir of being a BJP agent.

Humayun Kabir, who is contesting elections from Reginagar constituency, was visiting various polling stations and taking stock of the situation. However, everywhere they are facing opposition from TMC supporters.

Native Bombardment at Nauda; Many injured

There has been an incident of indigenous bomb hurling in Nauda assembly area and there are reports that some people have been injured. The situation has become more tense as supporters of various parties hit the streets in the wake of the polls. Security personnel are trying to bring the situation under control.

Increased security

Since Murshidabad is considered a sensitive district, a large number of security forces have been deployed here. An additional contingent of paramilitary forces has also been dispatched in the wake of rising tensions.

Suspension after controversial remarks

Humayun Kabir was suspended from the party by TMC in December 2025. He proposed building a new mosque on the lines of the Babri Masjid in Murshidabad, which was widely criticized. The TMC took action saying the proposal was disruptive to communal harmony and a breach of party discipline. After that Humayun Kabir formed his own party.

Stone pelted on BJP candidate’s car in Asansol

During the 2026 West Bengal elections, stones were allegedly pelted on the vehicle of Agnimitra Paul, BJP candidate from Asansol South constituency. According to the information received, this incident took place in Rahmat Nagar area, in which the windows of the vehicle were broken. Agnimitra Paul has filed a complaint at Hirapur police station and the investigation is on.
