Punjab Kings are easily one of the most impressive sides of the IPL 2026, by miles! Led by Shreyas Iyer, they've been playing some fearless cricket and have been sitting at the top of the points table. They've only dropped one game, and that too was because of rain.
What's worked for them so far? Their consistent contributions from both their batting and bowling departments. From their bowlers Arshdeep Singh and Yuzvendra Chahal, who are performing on crucial occasions to their explosive batting line-up. Openers Prabhsimran Singh and Priyansh Arya have been giving them a great start and the number three, Cooper Connolly, is playing a vital role in the middle-order.
The young Australian, Cooper Connolly has to be one of the most exciting prospects in the Punjab Kings squad. Batting at three, he has been instrumental in scoring some quick runs and forming crucial partnerships that have helped the team put up massive totals.

Viral Story Sparks Confusion About Connolly's Return Down Under
Connolly was recently in the spotlight after he uploaded an Instagram story from North Beach in Perth, which instantly went viral, raising questions about whether he'd skipped the rest of the tournament and gone back home to Australia.

While it hasn't been confirmed, and we're unsure if it was an old picture or a recent one, it has certainly caused some confusion among the fans and everyone's just waiting for the team to clear the air.
But that's not all - the confusion might also stem from an earlier injury Connolly had before the tournament began. He hasn't bowled all season, with his participation restricted to that of a batter. In fact, Cricket Australia had warned him against bowling throughout the IPL.
There are some rumors going around on social media that he may have flown for a fitness assessment to clear himself to start bowling again. Similar incidents have happened in the past, with Pat Cummins returning for fitness checks in the past.
For now, though, there's no official comment from Connolly or Punjab Kings and all eyes are on him since he is still an integral part of the squad.
