The Madrid Open has suffered another big-name withdrawal with Amanda Anisimova joining the list of absentees. World No.1 Carlos Alcaraz and 24-time Grand Slam champion Novak Djokovic are two other stars absent from the clay court masters event.
There are now 13 women and 10 men who have pulled out with Emma Raducanu, Marketa Vondrousova and Barbora Krejcikova some of the other names to withdraw. The tournament does however still have Jannik Sinner, Aryna Sabalenka and Iga Swiatek in their draws.
Elsewhere, WTA star Iva Jovic has opened up about how Djokovic has been helping her by sending texts with advice on where she can improve. The American grew up idolising the former world No.1.
