New Delhi. Union Defense Minister Rajnath Singh, during his three-day visit to Germany, on Wednesday participated in the Indian community program organized at the Indian Embassy in Berlin. During this, the Defense Minister interacted with Indian expatriates. Rajnath Singh also emphasized India’s rapid economic growth and technological progress, including in areas such as infrastructure, startups, space and digital innovation. The Defense Minister said that it was a great pleasure to interact with members of the Indian community in Berlin. The Indian diaspora is a living bridge between India and Germany and has emerged as a strong force in recent years.

Earlier on Tuesday, Defense Minister Rajnath Singh said that self-reliant India is not just a procurement programme. It is an invitation to co-creation, co-development and co-innovation. He made a strong appeal for better cooperation between the defense industrial ecosystem of India and Germany. ​​Addressed the German Parliamentary Standing Committee on Defense and Security on the first day of his three-day visit to this European country. The Defense Minister said that today the world is facing new security threats. Technological changes have made the situation extremely complex and deeply interconnected. He said that the need of the hour is to adopt a new approach with a willingness to adapt to the changing environment. The Defense Minister stressed that India is witnessing an unprecedented transformation in the defense sector under the visionary leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Growing partnerships with German industry could bring significant benefits to both sides. We recognize the established strength of Germany’s large industrial enterprises and also appreciate the enthusiasm and dynamism of the German Mittelstand, renowned for its innovative and emerging technologies. In India too, our start-ups and entrepreneurial private companies are rapidly expanding and adding to the capabilities of our large and established defense enterprises.
