Rajnath Singh spoke on the question of mediation in the Iran war, saying that the PM’s approach is balanced.

Berlin. During his address to Germany for the first time, India’s Defense Minister Rajnath Singh clarified his stance on when and what role India will play in the ongoing conflict in West Asia. He said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, India has always adopted a balanced and prudent foreign policy. He also indicated that in the future, India can play a major role in resolving global conflicts, including the crisis in West Asia.

Addressing the Indian community at the Indian Embassy in Berlin, Rajnath Singh said that India has always strived for peace, but there is a right time for everything. He said that in the future, India may play a key role in this direction and even succeed. He also pointed out that Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to both sides involved in the conflict to end the war and that his approach has always been balanced. 

Referring to PM Modi’s foreign policy,
Rajnath Singh further said that Prime Minister Modi has held direct talks with leaders of many countries on the Russia-Ukraine conflict and other international issues. He said that when the Prime Minister met Russian President Vladimir Putin, Ukrainian President and US President Donald Trump, peace and resolution were also discussed. Describing India’s position in global politics as strong, the Defence Minister said that India’s stance is not against any one side. This is why neither America nor Iran consider India an enemy.

Praising the diplomacy of the Indian Government,
he also praised India’s diplomacy and said that due to this balanced policy, Indian ships were able to pass safely through the Strait of Hormuz, whereas at that time ships of many countries had to face difficulties. Rajnath Singh also told in his address that this is his first visit to Germany and he has come there on the invitation of the Defence Minister Boris Pistorius. He said that the relations between India and Germany have continuously strengthened and the year 2026 is special for both the countries, because this year 75 years of their diplomatic relations are being completed. He said that the relations between the two countries are based on democratic values.

What did Rajnath Singh say about economic relations?
Speaking about economic relations, Rajnath Singh further stated that over the past 70 years, cooperation between India and Germany has grown in every field. Today, Germany has become India’s largest trading partner in Europe. More than 2,000 German companies operate in India, contributing to the country’s industrial development and the “Make in India” campaign. Many Indian companies are also establishing a strong presence in Germany.
