Sunrisers Hyderabad produced a commanding all-round display to register a convincing 47-run win against Delhi Capitals in Match 31 of the Indian Premier League 2026 at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on Tuesday, with Abhishek Sharma leading the charge with a sensational unbeaten 135.
After being put in to bat, SRH piled up a daunting 242/2 in 20 overs—one of the highest totals this season—thanks to Abhishek’s sensational 68-ball knock, laced with 10 fours and 10 sixes. Blending aggression with composure, he anchored the innings from start to finish.
Abhishek set the tempo early, taking on bowlers like Mukesh Kumar and Lungi Ngidi, while Travis Head provided solid support with a brisk 37 off 26 balls. The duo stitched a quick 97-run opening stand before Head departed.
The left-hander brought up his half-century in just 27 balls and continued to dominate, especially targeting Nitish Rana. He reached his century in only 47 deliveries—his second IPL hundred—and kept accelerating through the middle overs.
Ishan Kishan chipped in with a quickfire 25 off 13 balls, helping add 79 runs with Abhishek before being run out. In the death overs, Heinrich Klaasen provided the finishing touch, smashing an unbeaten 37 off just 13 balls as SRH surged past the 200 mark with ease.
Delhi’s bowling unit struggled for control, with Axar Patel being the lone wicket-taker, while others proved expensive.
Chasing 243, Delhi Capitals got off to a steady start with Pathum Nissanka and KL Rahul finding early boundaries. Rahul scored a quick 37, while Nitish Rana kept hopes alive with a well-compiled 57 off 30 balls.
However, the turning point came when Eshan Malinga struck twice in consecutive deliveries, removing Rana and David Miller. Malinga went on to claim an impressive 4/32, effectively sealing the game in SRH’s favour.
Despite late resistance from Tristan Stubbs (27) and Sameer Rizvi (41), Delhi never truly recovered. Harsh Dubey wrapped up the innings with key wickets in the final overs, restricting DC to 195/9.
Sunrisers Hyderabad’s clinical performance ensured a comprehensive victory, underlined by Abhishek Sharma’s match-winning brilliance.
