Just the sight of ice-cold sugarcane juice at a roadside stall is enough to make one feel instantly refreshed; yet, who could muster the courage to step out of the house amidst this scorching sun and blistering heatwave?

What if we told you that you could prepare sugarcane juice—tasting exactly like the market-bought version—right in your own kitchen, without a single stalk of sugarcane? Yes, it is absolutely possible!

The real secret lies in an ingredient likely already sitting in your kitchen: 'Jaggery' (Gud). Since jaggery is essentially produced by cooking down sugarcane juice, adding the right complementary ingredients results in a flavor that is virtually indistinguishable from authentic sugarcane juice. Let's discover this incredibly simple method of preparation.

**Ingredients**
To make sugarcane juice at home, you will need the following simple ingredients:

**Jaggery (Gud):** 1/2 cup (finely crushed or grated)
**Mint Leaves:** 10–15 (for freshness)
**Lemon Juice:** 1–2 teaspoons (for a tangy kick)
**Black Salt:** 1/2 teaspoon
**Cold Water:** 2 glasses
**Ice Cubes:** For garnishing

**Preparation Method**
**Dissolve the Jaggery in Water**
First, soak the finely crushed jaggery in half a glass of water and let it sit for 10–15 minutes. This ensures the jaggery dissolves thoroughly in the water, making the blending process much easier.

**Use a Blender**
Now, take a blender or mixer jar. Pour in the jaggery water, along with the fresh mint leaves, lemon juice, black salt, and the remaining cold water. If you wish, you may also add a pinch of roasted cumin powder for extra flavor.

**Blend Thoroughly**
Blend all the ingredients in the mixer for a few seconds until well combined. Once you see the mint leaves completely pulverized and a light layer of foam forming on the surface, switch off the blender. This foam will look exactly like the frothy layer found in market-style sugarcane juice. Strain Before Serving
Now, using a strainer, pour the juice into a glass to ensure that no large pieces of mint or jaggery end up in your mouth.

That’s it! Your fresh, delicious, and healthy homemade sugarcane juice is ready. Add a few ice cubes to the glass and enjoy this refreshing, chilled drink. Not only will it provide relief from the scorching heat, but it will also protect you from the illnesses often associated with open-air market juices.
