Samay Raina is back with a bang. The stand-up comic landed under heavy scrutiny, FIRs and protests, yet he bounced back with his new special—Still Alive. The comedy special was well received by the audience and seemed to be a cathartic rebound for him after the India's Got Latent controversy. In the special, Samay asserted that he has now earned enough money and would do what his heart wants without bowing down to any pressure.

Feared going bankrupt like Big B

Now, in a latest podcast, Rainahas said that during the controversy, he feared going bankrupt like Amitabh Bachchan. He mentioned how he "lost" everything following the controversy. He recalled how the sponsors for the future episodes of the show also backed out and since he had invested that money in FDs, he had to ultimately break them.

"I lost all the upcoming episodes because everyone was scared and didn't want their episode to be uploaded. I also lost the sponsors for those episodes. I had already received their payments and invested them in fixed deposits. I had to break those FDs and return the money. I was in a mess," he told Dostcast.

In debt

Samay added that he had shot for some ads and those people asked for their money back. He mentioned how Book My Show had also given him an advance for his tour and he had invested that money. So when the controversy broke out, he feared that even they would ask for their money back and he would be in debt.

I had also signed a deal with BookMyShow, where they had given me an advance for the entire tour, and all that money was already invested. I was extremely scared. At that time, I didn't know what I would do. I knew no brand would come on board. My biggest fear was that I would go broke and fall into debt, like what happened with Amitabh Bachchan," he recalled.
