Mini Mathur Denies Dig at Alia Bhatt Over Hosting Row, Calls It 'Nonsense'

Actor-host Mini Mathur has dismissed claims that she took a dig at Alia Bhatt’s hosting abilities, calling the viral controversy a case of social media overreaction.
The speculation began after Mini commented on an Instagram video debating whether actors should be chosen to host award shows. Her remark quickly gained traction online, with many users assuming it was aimed at Alia Bhatt, who recently hosted an awards ceremony.
Responding to the buzz, Mini told HT City that her comment had been misinterpreted and blown out of proportion. She clarified that she was reacting to the broader argument in the video, not targeting any individual.
“To just create stories out of nothing is what the internet does. ” she said, explaining that the content creator had raised a valid point about the mismatch between acting and hosting skills. “The creator had an interesting take on why award shows insist on using actors as hosts and then later complain about them falling short of their “expectations”. It is not their main skill set so why the expectations? It’s like asking a host to act at gunpoint. I only commented on that.”
Addressing rumours of any friction with Alia, Mini firmly denied them. “It is all nonsense. I love Alia. On top of this, I have not even seen the show these people are talking about on the internet,” she added.
The debate was sparked by a video shared by content creator Its Janani, who argued that Bollywood frequently assigns hosting duties to film stars despite live anchoring requiring a completely different skill set. She pointed out that stage hosting demands spontaneity, timing, and the ability to recover when jokes don’t land—skills that differ significantly from acting.

Mini’s brief comment on the post—“Thank you. Someone finally said it”—was enough to ignite speculation, with many interpreting it as criticism of Alia Bhatt.
However, with Mini Mathur now clarifying her stance, it appears the controversy was driven more by assumptions than reality, highlighting once again how quickly narratives can spiral on social media.
