At a recent Vietnam-China cooperation forum, Vietjet Air announced the launch of five new routes linking Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City with Hangzhou, Enshi, Huangshan, and Guilin.

Two of these services were already in operation, with the remaining routes scheduled to be launched soon.

Vietjet will also launch new flights to Northeast and Southeast Asia.

The Hanoi – Shizuoka (Japan) service is set to begin on April 28, while Da Nang-Jakarta and Nha Trang-Singapore services are expected to start in the next few weeks.

Vietnam Airlines is reinforcing its long-haul network with a new direct flight from Hanoi to Amsterdam starting on June 16.

To be served by Airbus A350 aircraft, it marks the first non-stop connection between Vietnam and the Netherlands, enhancing access to one of Europe’s key logistics and trade gateways.

With this addition, the airline will have 12 direct services to Europe including to cities such as Paris, Frankfurt and London.

The carrier has also moved to boost regional connectivity.

On April 12 it started flying on the Ho Chi Minh City – Phuket route with five weekly flights to cater to leisure travel between the two popular tourist destinations.

Vietravel Airlines resumed flights on the Hanoi – Bangkok sector on April 24, while newcomer Sun PhuQuoc Airways launched a Phu Quoc – Seoul service on April 17.

Industry observers said the simultaneous expansion by several carriers, as they race to extend their international footprint and capitalize on rebounding travel demand, signals a robust recovery in the aviation sector.

According to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam, there were 24.1 million travelers on domestic flights in the first quarter of 2026, a 16% year-on-year increase.

International travel was up 19% to 13.9 million passengers, supported by strong demand in key markets such as China, South Korea and Japan.
