Watch: Shreyas Iyer Forgets His Shoes, Borrows Cameraman's Pair Before Presentation

Shreyas Iyer offered his fans a light-hearted moment to cherish as he captained Punjab Kings to a commanding victory in the IPL 2026 season. A day after his side’s 54-run victory against Lucknow Super Giants on Sunday, Iyer was seen sprinting for the post-match presentation ceremony without a pair of shoes.

The incident took place at the Maharaja Yadavindra Singh International Cricket Stadium, and Iyer only realised his slip-up when he reached the periphery of the presentation area. As he had no time to head back for his shoes, he swiftly borrowed a pair from a cameraman who happened to be nearby. The comical scenario was caught on camera and has since gone viral on social media.

Fans likened the amusing scenario to the Rohit Sharma as the former India captain is famous for his forgetting habits. Despite all the mistakes, Iyer calmly handled the embarrassment and continued the presentation.

Iyer Leads From the Front

While the Shoe controversy may have been the headline, Iyer’s captaincy has certainly taken the center stage this season. Punjab Kings have climbed to the top of the IPL 2026 table with five wins in six games. Their team has looked more balanced than before and the bowling attack has certainly been the highlight.

Speaking at the post-match presentation after Punjab's 54-run win over Lucknow, Iyer applauded the bowling unit for their consistent performances in the tournament.

Iyer commended his bowling attack:

"I think the majority of the bowlers in our team are international-level players, and you've seen they've been doing fantastic for their respective teams internationally. They've got immense experience as well. So again, I don't have to tell them much. We discuss, we have a set of plans against certain batters, and it's all about execution. I personally feel that today, the way they bowled - and the way they've been bowling throughout the season - has been sensational. They just have to keep executing and not get complacent at any point of time."

Apart from his captaincy duties, Iyer has also played some significant knocks in the ongoing season, which have proved vital for Punjab at key stages of the match. The captain's calm and composed attitude has been a deciding factor in Punjab's impressive campaign.

Punjab Kings are scheduled to play against Delhi Capitals next on April 25th at the Arun Jaitley Stadium. Given their current run of form, it is likely that Punjab will look to extend their winning streak. For now, the fans have found some humor in Iyer's mishap, even though the skipper would have a singular focus of staying at the top of the table.
