New Delhi: Kia is preparing to introduce the second-generation Kia Seltos in Europe, marking the SUV’s first entry into the region. The model has been a strong performer in markets like India, the United States, and South Korea, but was earlier kept out of Europe where Kia focused on larger offerings.
With demand for compact SUVs rising across Europe, Kia now sees room for the Seltos between its existing models. Early material and reports indicate the company is positioning it as a volume driver in a highly competitive segment.
Kia brings Seltos into Europe for the first timeThe Seltos has played a key role in Kia’s global growth since its debut in 2019. In India, it continues to rank among the top-selling SUVs, regularly crossing 10,000 monthly units. That strong track record appears to have influenced Kia’s decision to expand into Europe.
In the new market, the SUV will compete with established names such as Volkswagen T-Roc and Toyota C-HR. This is a segment where buyers expect a balance of size, practicality, and efficiency.
The second-generation model measures around 4.43 metres in length and sits on a 2,690 mm wheelbase. These dimensions place it squarely in the C-SUV category, which remains popular among family buyers.
Design changes are visible. The exterior takes cues from Kia’s newer electric models, bringing a sharper front profile and updated lighting elements. Inside, the cabin moves toward a more digital layout with dual 12.3-inch displays and a separate climate control interface, while retaining physical switches for core functions.
Seltos Hybrid powertrain takes priorityFor Europe, Kia is focusing on electrified options. The Seltos will be offered with a 1.6-litre turbo petrol-based hybrid system. Power outputs are expected to be around 152 hp for front-wheel-drive versions and up to 176 hp for all-wheel-drive variants. A dual-clutch transmission will be standard.
Some markets may also receive non-hybrid petrol variants, but the emphasis remains on hybrid technology, in line with regional demand trends.
Rollout timeline and market impactThe European launch will take place in phases, with the United Kingdom expected to receive the model in the fourth quarter of 2026. Final specifications and pricing details are yet to be confirmed.
