Shashank Singh, someone who can easily be considered one of the trusted fielders from Punjab Kings, had a rough day today against Lucknow Super Giants. One such moment was when he completely misjudged the ball's trajectory in the 18th over, that gave six runs to LSG.
It was Arshdeep Singh's over, who went almost to 45 runs without a wicket and was looking for one. Shashank, who followed the path of the fall, misjudged it and thought that it would have flown a bit away from him. But the ball landed right in front of him, on the boundary cushion.
Arshdeep was caught frustrated. But what became funnier was that Ricky Ponting, the PBKS head coach, stood up and was visibly in shock at how he could miss the ball. Shashank, however, was saying sorry to his side multiple times to his teammate for missing it.

And then in the very next over, off Xavier Bartlett, Shashank dropped a sitter from Mukul Choudhary. However, instead of getting a stare, his captain, Shreyas Iyer, was laughing with his teammates standing outside the boundary.

Punjab Kings crush LSG in high-scoring thriller
Punjab Kings registered a commanding 54-run win over Lucknow Super Giants in Match 29 of IPL 2026 at New Chandigarh. PBKS posted a massive 254/7, the highest total of the season, riding on Priyansh Arya’s 93 off 37 balls (SR 251.35) and Cooper Connolly’s 87 off 46. The duo added 182 runs for the second wicket, taking the game away early. Marcus Stoinis (29 off 16) and Shashank Singh (17 off 6) provided the late surge as PBKS scored at 12.70 runs per over.
In response, LSG finished at 200/5, falling short despite contributions from Rishabh Pant (43 off 23), Aiden Markram (42 off 22), and Mitchell Marsh (40 off 28). LSG maintained a steady run rate but couldn’t accelerate enough in the death overs.
Marco Jansen (2/37) led PBKS’ bowling effort, while Vyshak, Chahal, and Arshdeep picked one wicket each to seal the win.
