A powerful explosion occurred at a firecracker manufacturing unit in the village of Kattanarpatti, located in Tamil Nadu's Virudhunagar district. The blast was so intense that it affected four nearby firecracker factories as well. Tragically, this incident has resulted in the loss of 16 lives, with 6 others suffering serious injuries and currently receiving medical treatment.
Chief Minister Stalin Expresses Condolences
Upon learning of the incident, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin took to social media platform X to express his sorrow. He stated, 'I am deeply saddened by the news of the deaths in the firecracker factory explosion in Kattanarpatti, Virudhunagar district. My heartfelt condolences go out to the affected families.'
Relief Efforts Initiated
The Chief Minister has issued directives regarding relief and rescue operations. He has instructed state ministers Ramachandran and Thangam Thennarasu to promptly reach the site to oversee rescue efforts and provide comfort to the affected families.
Additionally, he has communicated with the district collector, ensuring that all necessary assistance is provided for coordinating relief efforts.
