Meghan Markle reportedly tried to appear "relatable" during her introduction as a guest judge on Masterchef Australia, but according to a body language expert she didn't quite master it. Earlier this week during Meghan and Prince Harry's tour in Australia, Masterchef announced that Meghan was to feature on the new series as a guest judge.
On social media, a video was uploaded by Masterchef Australia in which Meghan is introduced onto the show and walks into the room to join the judges. While it is clear to see just how delighted Meghan is, body language expert Inbaal Honigman said that the duchess was trying to restrain her excitement.
Honigman also said that The Duchess of Sussex appeared to be trying to appear "relatable", which didn't quite work.
Speaking to Casino.ca, Honigman said: "Meghan's facial expression as she walks onto the MasterChef stage is one of restrained jubilation."
"She is clearly proud and thrilled, but quickly attempts to rein this in. Perhaps in an effort to appear more reserved and relatable, she closes her lips, reducing the size of her smile.
"However, the attempt is not entirely successful. The closed lips briefly form a smirk, which similarly undercuts any attempt at humility.
"Her chin then drops slightly, suggesting she may have let out a small, involuntary laugh as her excitement surfaces."
The new series of Masterchef Australia is set to air today in Australia.
While many fans were excited to hear that the duchess is to appear as a guest judge on the series, a number of people showed annoyance at the decision, with some even vowing not to tune into the programme anymore.
It is not yet known how many episodes she will appear in.
